IHOP, Shannon Falls, Deep Cove, Pho Le Petit & Family Dinner @ Hapa

So Jay's first attempt at bringing me for canoeing failed miserably.
It was just one of those days where everything just couldn't go as planned.
Here was how our Sunday plan was supposed to look like:
Go up to Lake Squamish and go canoeing then after we've worked a sweat, go for some famous Fish & Chips nearby.
But how our Sunday really went was:
Stopped at Shannon Falls (which really wasn't too bad because the waterfall was absolutely brilliant... I don't have the pictures unfortunately, we took tons using Jay's buddy, Sanjeev's SLR and I haven't gotten hold of those pics yet) posed around waiting for the kids (the ones from the centre Jay volunteers in) to come down from hiking so we could join them for canoeing...
Unfortunately, by the time the kids came down, they were so tired that none of them wanted to go canoeing and well, we didn't have canoes so 3 of us couldn't very well do canoeing at Lake Squamish.
So we decided to head down to another lake, Deep Cove, and it was really beautiful and I really liked it. Problem? NO CANOES FOR RENTAL. Jeez. And well, we could've gone kayaking but there was an odd number (3 of us, right) so it wouldn't be as fun.
And when we decided to leave Deep Cove after walking around and enjoying the scenery (highlight of the day I suppose), Jay wanted to bring us to the best Fish & Chips in town and whaddaya know, they close at 6pm... IT WAS 5 MINUTES AFTER 6 when we arrived.
Jeebers.
We had plenty rotten luck.
So all in all, we spent more hours in the car then anywhere else (TOOK 2 hours to get to Lake Squamish and 2 hours back to Vancouver and another who-knows-how-long to get to Deep Cove from Vancouver) so yep!
Anyhow...
We managed to get our own fun somehow.
Pictures?
Breakfast @ International House of Pancakes (18th of May, 2008)
Meet Sanjeev a.k.a Jeevers.
My chocy pancake. Not too shabby.
Hashbrown, bacon & eggs. All-American breakfast.
Some cheesy, strawberry, who-knows-what-else-is-in-there french toast! Jeevers ordered this. Nice & fattening.
2 hours or so later...
The view from Shannon Falls.
And after posing around for an hour or so and got the bad news that we couldn't go canoeing...
Some hours later....
We arrive at Deep Cove!
The kayaks that we never got on. I don't care! One of these weekends, I am soooo gonna kayak.
So, we went and got icecreams instead...
Jeevers & Jay.
Me & Jay.
Jeev's T. I like what it says. I want one. Heh.
Oodles of Sailboats. If that's what you call 'em. Rich people live all round Deep Cove apparently.
I thought it was so cool what she was doing! I wish I could paint well. It'd be nice to bring my canvas, have a picnic & paint the day away!
And after the disappointment of now having our Fish & Chips, we went to have some Pho instead.
Dinner @ Pho Le Petit (18th of May, 2008)
The sun sets at around 9ish now hence the brightness of daylight even at dinnertime!
Sanjeev again!
Jay doing a... somewhat-like impression of Pan's Labyrinth's scary monster.
So I did it too!:
Boo!
Our food.
Spring rolls. They were not too bad however....
The Pho WAS SO, SO, SO BAD! I would've enjoyed Maggie Mi way better than this! I've honestly never tasted such bad Pho ever.
And that about closes our awesome day!

Family Dinner @ Hapa (21st of May, 2008)
Note: Sorry in advance for the bad quality of the pictures. I forgot to bring my cam out so I resorted to using my handphone cam which did zero justice for the following images.
And yet again, we are at Hapa! Honestly, I've been to this restaurant, like, 4 times up to date!
It's Jay's 2nd home so I'm guessing I'm gonna be visiting Hapa preeeeeetty often.
Anyway, Jay's Dad and Aunty Sandra suggested to have dinner there because Jay was working that night and we wanted to visit him!
Hapa Izakaya. FYI, if you want to work at Hapa, you HAVE to be good-looking. All the host/hostess, waiters/waitresses, bartenders, cooks & chefs are all good-looking!
Right: Silhouette of Uncle Doug, Great Grandma (the 99 year-old one, remember?), Benson & Katrina (Ben's girlfriend).
Right: Mom (looking somewhat grumpy), Grandma & Aunty Sandra.
The cuisine:
The half-raw Saba fish. So good! I love it.
Some salad stuff. Well, salad is salad. In my opinion, salad which tastes too good, definitely ain't healthy. And the healthy ones, ain't good. In conclusion, I ain't no salad person.
One of the dishes Jay cooked for us. It looks crummy because my Mom dug into it so fast I only managed to take a picture of it while she was half-way through forking it into her plate. But it was good udon!
Raw prawns & tuna. Jeez, my handphone cam sucks to the core.
I mean, can you EVEN tell what the HECK this is? I don't even know why I bother posting up these pics, lol. It's roasted pork by the way. Bit chewy but tasty nonetheless.
Stone Bowl Rice. Good stuff. Think I'm gonna have that the next time I go back.
Me & Mummyyyy :)
That was the 2nd last dinner I had with my Mom :(
Alrighty, time to hit the books.
Will be updating more soonish!
