Hapa, Clubbing @ Fabric, Taiwanese Noodles & Mother's Day
Saturday, May 17, 2008
I can't help but to just mention again how awesome the weather has been these past couple of days!
I'm absolutely loving the weather; it really does affect my mood vastly!
It was so nice and sunny (nothing like the hot humidity we get back in Malaysia of course) that after class yesterday, Jay had to bring to check out the beach.
It's nice to see such a busy beach (something I've never witnessed before live) and how there's so much going on.
There's volleyball, tanning, frisbee, walking dogs, and just plain chilling out.
But more of the beach another time (I took some pictures) because am gonna blog about what I did last week first!
A Quick e Hapa & Clubbing @ Fabric (2nd May, 2008)
Hapa is a Japanese restaurant that Jay works as a cook in! It's a nice, trendy place and everyone I've met always tell me how great the food is!
(I've only had one dish- you'll see what later- so it's hardly enough for me to judge)
The bar.
Jay's co-workers.
The saba fish. This is reaaaaallly good stuff. They take is raw and flame it in front of us. And apparently it's been specially marinated etc hence, it's really flavorful!
Jay & I.
Next, Jay brought me to a club called Fabric. He knew the bouncer so free entrance!
(yes, here, even ladies have to pay! Which kinda sucks if ask me... so it's good to know people)
My first clubbing experience in Vancouver!
The street outside the club. Check out the line-up. But we got to cut everyone else thanks to Jay's buddy ;p
Fabric. It's not too bad, really. It's more of an Asian club evidently. However, the crowd wasn't too exciting that night... I probably wouldn't go back there again based on that first experience.
Oh, but I did meet two Malaysian sisters! What are the odds that I meet Malaysians on my first clubbing night out?
With one of the sisters, Angela.
The other one, Yoo Jin, and her girlfriend on the far right.
Jay & I again.
We met up with more of Jay's buddies but they were pretty much gone somewhere along the night.
And that's my first cubbing experience!

The next morning, Jay brought me to have some good Taiwanese Noodles for dinner which restaurant is just down our street!
Huge portions! Plus, they have yummy bubble tea too! Just as good or better than Yippee Cup!
Enthusiastic Jay!

Now...
Mother's Day Dinner @ Home (3rd of May, 2008)
We celebrated a day earlier because my Dad was leaving the next day so yep!
Everyone helps out in the kitchen! It was soooo busy.
Uncle Doug (Jay's Dad) slicing up the beef.
The raw steaks!
Hahhahah! Guess what Jay's doing... ;) Looks so wrong.
Benson (Jay's bro) with the garlic bread!
The Garlic Bread. It was really good. We had homemade garlic butter made by Jay so it's nothing like your normal garlic bread with the spread you get from a jar.
Mussels! Jay made this too. It's reaaaally good. Me and my Mom ate sooooo many.
Shrimp & Dip!
Jay's (again) cooked prawns! Oh, these prawns were so tasty it's not even funny. I don't usually eat that much prawns but... I couldn't stop with these.
Jay's baked potatoes. Well, Jay kinda practically cooked everything. We just helped out with the prep.
Salad! Well, I mixed it? Haha. But it was Jay's homemade salad dressing I used ;)
There's Jay hard at work.
His own mushroom soup! Through Google, haha. But it's really good! It's ALL good, because he's such a good cook!
And here's the steak, cooking. This time, it's Benson who's in charge of cooking the steak to perfection!
On the table (clockwise from the left): Papa, Mummy, Great-Grandma (Mummy's head is blocking her but she's soooo adorable though! 99 years old! Turns 100 next January, that's maad!), Uncle Doug, Grandma & Uncle Doug's buddy.
Chomp, chomp, chomp!
Steak dinner! Mmmmmm!
Well, it's more like Steak & Seafood dinner but it was absolutely scrumptious!
Anyway...
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
