Sweet Dreams or Nightmares?

Thursday, July 31, 2008

In general, any normal person would pick having sweet dreams over nightmares off the bat.

Which ridiculous person would rather have nightmares?

My nightmares are pretty brutal and sometimes, they get too vivid. I'd wake up with a rising temperature and I become a little girl again, extremely terrified of being alone.

In my first few weeks in Canada, I was tormented by dozens of nightmares...

People around me dying...

ME dying...

Evil spirits...

Spirits in general...

Scary stuff.

Now that I've adjusted to being here (which is really great), I'm starting to have better dreams.

The dreams keep getting better and better... but really, I don't want it to!

I'd dream about home...

Having just a simple conversation with my girlfriends...

Golfing with my Dad...

Eating my Mom's or Tini's fab cooking...

Watching movies or shopping with my sisters...

Being in his arms...

And then I wake up.

And I'd feel like crying!

Which makes me think... are sweet dreams really that sweet after all?

I don't think it's very sweet at all to wake up knowing I can't do or have all those things.

It torments me to know I can't. Well, not for a very long time anyway.

So sometimes, I'd really rather have nightmares... because when I wake up, I know everything will always be better. And I know my life isn't as horrid as it is in the nightmare.

Anyway, that's only if I really had to choose.

Otherwise, a dreamless sleep works the best for me.

Movie Reviews

Wall-E

Disney, as I have said before and will probably say again, has once again delivered. This movie is going to be definite classic piece of work. I absolutely loved it and although all my Philosophy teachings have taught me to believe otherwise of robots being able to love... it doesn't make the movie any less interesting.
And I laughed so hard seeing how our future would look like... I'm not surprised, really. People these days are getting sooooo lazy (shamefully, me included).
Anyhow!
A great and ruminative movie. Disney always leaves me with a warm & fuzzy feeling when I leave the cinema.

MOVIE OF THE YEAR.
Need not say anything more because whoever has watched it would agree and whoever that hasn't... WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU STILL DOING HERE? GO FRIGGIN' BUY YOURSELF A MOVIE TICKET AND WATCH IT ALONE IF YOU HAVE TO!

COUGH. BLOOD.
Honestly, ever since The Sixth Sense, M. Night Shyamalan's movies might as well be flushed down the toilet. I don't care if you want to argue with me but The Village was a torment to watch (tormentingly boring that is) and I've heard countless dreadful reviews on Signs and Lady in the Water. Granted I didn't watch all his movies (thank goodness for me, I should think) but well, The Happening just made me feel that much better that I didn't.
I am very grateful to everyone who warned me not to watch the movie and there is no better time than now to quote, "curiosity killed the cat". I wasted a good 91 minutes of my life sitting on my bed staring at my computer.
On the bright side, I didn't waste $11++ just to watch it in the theaters.
If I were to be more constructively critical, the movie did have a lot of potential, it really did. The major problems in this movie was the ridiculous running-around-in-a-circle ending and the bad acting. Very, very bad acting.
I think that everyone should have died. That would've made a heck more of a better ending than the "force of nature" ending. Goodness gracious. Waited 91 minutes, watching people die in all sorts of creative way they could muster, just to hear an ending I already heard in the first 5 minutes of the movie.

Ratings:
(it was functionally retarded but I had no cinema to leave)

Well, if he wants to look old.... sure.

Actually, I do kinda think he DOES look a tad bit like Andy.

Andy is even short for Andrew, haha!

But... I don't know if that's supposed to be a good thing though.

Shucks! I miss Andrew :( Sniff.

They're Made Out of Meat

Sunday, July 27, 2008

Philosophy has officially taken over me.

Well, it has but I still can't bring myself to have any interest in that subject.

Sometimes, I just want to scream to philosophers; IGNORANCE IS BLISS!

I fully understand the advantages of philosophy in that it stimulates critical thinking which is good in a lot of ways but some things are honestly better left unquestioned!

However, my Prof read out a script called, "They're Made Out of Meat", which is a conversation between two aliens speaking not so highly of us humans and I personally think it's really interesting and this conversation made me actually think a little (unlike most of the philosophy I've been reading about).

Do watch it!

They're Made Out of Meat

Haha.

Meat can think.

Anyhowww, I would say I had a pretty good weekend spending quality time with friends but I didn't do anything too crazy so unfortunately, no pictures today!

Unless you want something to read about...

Then, um, you can give me a topic and I'm pretty sure I can blabber on about it for a good 300 words or so, haha.

Alrighty...

Have a great day, all.

Church Picnic @ Belcarra Park

Church Picnic @ Belcarra Park, Coquitlam (20th of July, 2008)

Photobucket
Outdoor service! That's Pastor Teddy there doing his thang. He's awesome :)

After worship, it was time to dig into the grub!

Photobucket
Barbecuing pork or beef. I can never get them right when they're barbecued. Taste both the same to me!

There was a table FULL of food and since most of the members of my church are Korean, there was a massive amount of Korean food.

Photobucket
Ram & Me. He's sucha geeek.

Photobucket
Pastor Teddy, Me, Jessica & ... Ah, I can't recall.

Photobucket
Ram, Me, Caleb & Caleb's Mummy, Christime. Isn't he the sweetest thing? Poor darling tripped and fell and hurt himself (that would explain the bandages criss-crossing his adorable face).

Photobucket
Ram brought out his rubber boat, SEAHAWK.

Photobucket
Father & Son.

Photobucket
Awwww, shucks! He's so adorable!

Photobucket
The folks from the Korean Ministry.

Photobucket
Evidently having way more fun the us in the English/Youth Ministry.

Soon after, we took Ram's rubber boat out to the sea!

Photobucket
Soaking up the sun. And mind, I forgot my sunscreen... currently suffering from a horrid burn. And nevermind if it has a spaghetti strap tan line, my hair was covering the middle part of my back which makes me tan look so darn awkward! Red left shoulder, white spaghetti line, red left back, white back, red right back, white spaghetti line, red right shoulder. Horrible. Funny how my whole body is red (about to be black soon) and white all unevenly spread but still, my face remained the same? Peculiar.

Photobucket
The rower. Hehe, made him do all the work!

Photobucket
We went pretty far out. That's Wisdom over there. Definitely can't beat our super cool SEAHAWK name for a boat!

Photobucket
GEESE!

Photobucket
ME!

Photobucket
Me, Matthew & Wisdom.

Photobucket
Matt & Ram.

Photobucket
On his way to plunge into the icy water.

Photobucket

Photobucket
LOL.

Photobucket
Threw in some floats 'cause Matt got a lil' woozy after a while.

Photobucket
Wheee :)

Had the prickly feeling of getting far too much sun (especially since I was without the sunscreeen!) so I got out the boat and gave up my seat to a cute bunch of kids.

Photobucket
Tsk! Look at how Ram made the work. Exploiting the poor kids!

Oh, and I saw a seal too! It was swimming so close to shore which was pretty cool. But couldn't get a picture of it because by the time I grabbed my camera out, it disappeared.

Ram & the kids got pretty darn close to it and one of the kids even claimed that he counted 6 whiskers on the seal. And not evenly distributed, mind. 4 on one side and 2 on the other.

Cute kids ;)

Photobucket
And that's all for now, folks!

Last weekend of fun before hitting the books!
(FINAL exams in 3 weeks!! Yikes!)
