Laundry Bar, Papa's Birthday & Movie Reviews

Sunday, March 25, 2007

2 days ago was my Dad's birthday. He turns 54 this year!

Gosh, Papa's getting old! Gonna retire soon already. Time sure does fly.

Anyway, we didn't do anything on the night of his birthday because our family was to go down to the Seremban house and have a barbecue party with relatives. Fun!

So, on the night of his birthday (Friday night), I went out! Well, it's not like he was home either! Probably out partying with his friends. Ha-ha. That'd be a real sight.

I didn't get a lot of pictures because Drew's buddies were so camera shy!

The only ones that weren't.

Since we didn't get enough pics during our yumcha session, we indulged ourselves here.

He's soooooooo cute. For the 1st and 3rd picture, when I asked him to pose for the camera, he went, "Caeeeeeeeelaaaaannnnnnnnn!" and gave those poses. Cutest thing ever.

There he goes again.

At least he knows what a chicken is. Such a smarty-pants.

Movie Reviews

Pan's Labyrinth

pansposter1.jpg
So this show has been out for quite some time already, hasn't it? Anyway, it's an... interesting sort. It's all in SPANISH so if you're not up for a foreign language show, you'd probably get a headache. As for me, I'm pretty used to watching Chinese, Japanese and Korean shows and reading the subtitles so I'm okay with the whole Spanish thing. So this show is pretty brutal and gruesome. For those who watched the show and you're unsure whether it's real or fantasy, according to the synopsis, it's about a girl who created her own mystical world of her own so she could escape from her brutal reality. And boy does her reality suck! Ohhh, yeah. And this movie has this FREAKING FREAKY SCENE. Scares me still. Check out the pic and you'll get what I mean.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! This monster eats children. Lures children by placing a feast on his table. SCARY BALLS. And the little girl created THAT THING up. She's got some REAL imagination. All in all, the movie is not a eye-catcher but it's not a bad movie either. It's watchable.

You see this poster, you think it looks interesting, you have any thoughts of watchign this movie... THINK AGAIN. I got nothing much so say about this movie. But this is what I got from the promo lady who was, well, promoting this movie. "Oh, it's a very interesting film. Won a lot of awards. It's about a man who sells houses and then later forces the owners to move out by planting rats etc. And then later, he wants to become a pianist. But because of all the bad things he's done, the shadows keep following him..." And she gives us a wink. Me and Drew got conned. We left the cinema.

So after leaving the cinema... we snuck into another ;)

Well, at LEAST this one was better than the other ridiculously slow-moving movie. What I don't get is why extremely slow-moving movies get all the awards. Sheeessh. This one was a complete change (which was much better) but all the effects of the show seemed so mediocre. Oh, Dominic Purcell (Lincoln Burrows) acted in it. It's pretty gruesome. It's about a ass-big alligator that keeps eating everyone up. And it also can run on land. Pretty damn fast too. Quite entertaining. I thought so maybe because we left from a stupid movie so in contrast, this was considered very, very good. And also, Me and Drew kept making funny comments and cracking ourselves up. So all in all, we at least got to enjoy ourselves.

Mr. Bean's Holiday

Drew loves loves loves this movie. He's got this big sense of humour so naturally, he laughs to everything. As for me? It takes more to make me laugh. But I thought there were pretty a lot of funny parts. It was a good sketch. I personally liked this movie overall. But my favourite funny moment is, lemme give you a hint: "Mr. Lover Lover. Mr. Bombastic, very fantastic..." AHAHHAHAHAHAAHHA! Even thinking of it gets me. That part is funny as ever. Mr. Bean is really quite a talented dude. If you love Mr. Bean, then what are you waiting for?
