In Singaporeeee Transiting..

For the second time around, I've left home...

Significant differences (and obvious ones) are:

#1 It's not as hard as it used to be (I didn't cry this time, which is a real accomplishment seeing how much of a crybaby I am).
#2 Traveling alone this time; starting to get used to it and feeling pretty independent now.
#3 The amount of people sending me off has reduced from a rough 20 to just 2 (everybody's either gone off to Aussie or somewhere already or couldn't give smack for waking up at friggin' 6am... I totally understand because I wouldn't either. It's a deathly hour to be awake).

I have a 3-hour transit here in Singapore and miraculously managed to steal some "PPSLG wifi" connection so thought I'd just post a lil' somethin' somethin'.

Sigh..

Already, I had a horribly packing experience (always the case when you limit a girl to bringing only 2 bags of 20 kg each), only 1 hour of sort-of-sleep sleep, and say good-bye to the last people I'd want to say good-bye to... I had to have a dreadful 55 minutes flight from KL to Singapore.

Sometimes, I curse having an extremely sensitive nose.

I happily picked a good aisle seat (easy exit/access), visited the lavatory before the plane takes off, returned to my seat, sniffed the air...

I always sincerely pity and give a hearty laugh when someone tells me their horror flight stories of seating close-by screaming babies or awesome-smelling individuals but I haven't yet encountered the latter so I never truly felt the monstrosity of the situation until just.

It was so bad that I swear I could taste my puke.

It didn't help that I really wanted to sleep (I think I actually sort of managed dozing off for 10 minutes by using my hair to cover my face; I didn't care that the people around me thought I was some kind of weirdo).

And the cherry on top of the cake?

3 annoying brats behind making a heck of a racket.

HARUMPHHH!!

My day has NOT been going well.

I'm just going to keep myself awake for these 3 hours and friggin'... do my assignment or something, gah!

I'm dead tired but I don't care. I will crash & burn on my 6-hour flight to Korea.

Cross my fingers that I won't be near any screaming brats or BO fragrance!
(Maybe a hot hunk instead? Hehe)

By the way, MissWishful.Com is in progress of revamping so don't mind the stagnancy for a while!

Clubbing @ Phuture... Again!

Clubbing 2 weekends in a row... WITHOUT my two- evidently retired- party wild childs (currently known as the party poopers; Jubu & Sonzy) is certainly a change!!

The roles have made a surprising turn!

While I'm rockin' it out in Phuture here in Malaysia and Jean's shakin' her thang in Bond Lounge in Melbourne, our two party poopers were at home with their boyfriends being the good girls!

Got awoken by Sonzy's amazing news that she passed her IELTS (one step closer to MF-ing her to coming to Vancouver!!) and after a good, long shower, still waiting for my KFC to arrive so decided to allow my mind to wander (it can be quite creative when it does that) and came up with..

Princesses & Monsters!

Growing up, most girls wanted to be beautiful princesses and to find their prince charming and live happily ever after.

After watching Disney on Ice (the guys we dragged with us were slightly traumatized), we realized that our dreams of being one of the Disney princesses were still quite potent, haha.

So, we self-proclaimed each a title from the Disney princesses!

Ariel: Ju. Aurora: Jean. Belle: MEEEE! Hehe. Jasmine: Sonzy.

Haha. We're downright thick-skinned.

I supposed I'm the thickest of them all seeing I had the guts to broadcast our petty chimera to public ;)

But, oh well, since we already sufficiently embarrassed ourselves in front of a number of parents and children (who surrounded us in those bleacher seats at Bukit Jalil Stadium), why not go full force?

Relating ourselves to 'em princesses triggered an absolutely hilarious memory.

Sonia's SS1/4 stalkers hated the four of us so terribly that they managed to offend us tremendously by identifying us with pretty darn fugly characters from LOTR.

Yes, we were deeply offended. Positively raving.

They were certainly creative for managing to use that much brain power to relate us to those characters so we gotta give them some props for that!

So apparently, Ju was Gimli. Jean was an Orc... harsh! I'm the Ent... Treebeard! At least, HE'S cool. Sort of anyway. And Sonzy's Gollum! Hoho. So funny man.

I think 'em haters should seriously channel their brain power to something more productive because if they think they can truly offend us by relating us to LOTR characters, they should seriously consider a dose of maturity and higher brain capacity.

It was fun while it lasted though!

Some people can really come up with the most entertaining things :)

(my girlfriends are so gonna kill me for doing this... but boredome can make you do silly things, hehe)

Heheheheh. Aww, come on, I can honestly see the resemblance to Jasmine, can't you?

I'm still trying to figure out WHICH part of Ju actually looks like Gimli.

LOL!! The orc relation was just absolutely the funniest. And goodness, they sure are hideous!! I'm sure everyone can agree Jeanpants is incomparable.

I can actually understand why they related me to the Treebeard. He IS tall and smart and kind after all!!

Hehe, I'm not shy one, I know.

Anyway, just a note to those crazy haters out there, I'm not looking for a war or anything.

Maybe just want to remind you to be more careful when deciding to spam someone's comment box because it's far too easy to figure out where you live (*cough* SS1/4 *cough*) and eventually figure out who you are.

It's kind of embarrasing for you because now we know how seriously childish you are for a grown person (actually, it just confirmed our fears) and it'll just make things very awkward if we see you and you pretend to be nice to us, but, oh well!!

First Princess: Jasmine. Set of Aladdin; the marketplace.

Second Princess: Snow White. The seven dwarves: Doc, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Happy, and Dopey!

Third Princess: Belle. My favourite!

It was dreadfully annoying that they were so brief on Beauty & the Beast :( The last time I went (guilty of being a 2nd-timer), there was a longer and better take on Beauty & the Beast. In this one, they didn't even feature Beast at all!

Fourth Princess: Ariel. This is the scene on the boat. It's pretty useless in terms of the storyline but they did perform some super crazy stunts!! Note: the dude prepping on the see-saw.

Voila! On the high chair held by one dude!! Pretty coool.

The Little Mermaid.

Fifth Princess: Mulan. By far the lamest most boring storyline ever. They used the storyline from Mulan II, which I've never seen before and would probably never see after watching this. To be fair, I really liked Mulan. Just not this piece of yawn.

The flames from the dragon from the Disney movie; Sleeping Beauty! Nice effects, they had.

Sixth Princess: Aurora... with her prince, Philip.

The Seventh and last Princess: Cinderella and her Prince Charming. Haha. I just found out his name really IS Prince Charming. I thought that was only in Shrek.

The Finale; Tinkerbell in the elevated golden carriage (Cinderella's, I believe).

Pretty frickin' awesome!

Now, I feel like watching all 'em Disney movies.

I want to start with The Little Mermaid (recently watched Beauty & the Beast already)!

A bit ages ago but... I'll be saving my updates on my 21st and Melbourne for my new blog.

It's all going to be a bit of a mess of updates (something I can hardly stand but have to do because my blog will only be ready next week and I can't pile up all my updates until then or else it'd be havoc) but I guess I have to deal with it, yurgh.

Bangkok 2009

Sorry for the empty updates.

Can't say I was busy because I really wasn't, haha!

Just was kinda lazing around, enjoying being home in Malaysia as much as possible plus, waiting for some serious blog renovation to be done ;)

Anyway, I actually edited quite a bit of pictures (family portraits & my 21st) but it was to fit the new layout, which won't be done until next week so I had to dig out later stuff to blog.

Bangkok (28th of Feb - 2nd of March, 2009)

A rather brief update of my 4 days and 3 nights in Bangkok.
(might've been bit lazy to edit all 247 pics taken on that trip...)

Pretty awesome.

Headed to the street market. Forgot the name of this one. It ain't Suan Lum (don't know how to spell) so... it's... bah, can't remember.

Street pad thai is always a winner. Yummiest pad thai ever. The whole being on the streets, walking, and eating probably gave a lot of extra taste and feel to the meal.

Went to have more supper at this quaint restaurant with uber low ceilings and interesting trinklets of deco.

Next day...

Taking the skytrain to our first shopping venue, Platinum Mall!

Me & Nick.

On our way back with the Tuk-Tuk (this one was helluva driver!) with a tukload of shopping! Ah, the joy of cheap shopping :)

Later that night, after our soothing thai and oil massage...

We hit the streets of Suriwong! Erik had his very first taste of 'em candymen. It was pretty brutal actually... they're a real eye-opener; these shows.

Day after...

Another shopping trip, this time, at Chak-Tuk-Chak. You'd think most of those bags belong to Lena and Me... think again (Erik *cough* Erik).

That night...

Ready for some partying.

We hit the famous Sirocco.

The view never fails to amaze me.

Erik & Lena.

After some drinks, we headed close to RCA for some dinner.

And then to Route 66 for clubbing! I LOVE this club's taste in R&B music. It was awesome.

On our last day...

Did more shopping in Siam square and MBK Mall and the Bazaar.

And pretty much wrapped up that night!

Basically, we did a lot of shopping, eating, and experiencing the more interesting bits and pieces of Bangkok!

He's Just NOT That Into You

That movie made me ponder quite a fair bit about relationships played out in recent scenes.

I personally thought that it was pretty insightful and almost too real at times. A little exaggeration on specific behaviour but other than that, pretty dead-on.

And to you boys out there, you might actually learn a thing or two (from Ben Affleck and NOT Bradley Cooper, mind) by watching this movie.

Maybe you will be able to understand women better. Haha.

No one can truly understand women (yes, not even ourselves because we are such complicating creatures...) but getting closer to sort of maybe understanding would be quite an achievement, no?

I promise it ain't a chick flick as all you men are probably dreading.

Bali - Day 2 - Part I

Bali - Day 2 - Part I (23rd January, 2009)

Did quite a bit of radical stuff even though it was just the three of us (can you imagine if the four of us hit Bali?) so I had to split it into 2 parts!

Here goes!

Started our day bright and early!

Travelled a couple of hours to a LIVE volcano site for lunch.

Imagine if it decided to erupt 0_o

Buffet lunch under the gazebo hut thingy with the view of the volcano.

For some reason, dark thunder clouds just tend to linger around the tip of the volcano... creepy!

Next up, a completely useless stop (we're still spiteful at our driver for bringing us here... and we pity the other tourists that got suckered into coming here by tour guides...) which I clearly remember stopping when I was in Bali 5 years back...

Ubud Palace. Honestly, this picture was about the most decent thing the place had. I'm trying to figure out why tour guides love bringing tourists to this forsaken place. No offense (I know nothing of the history which could possibly be a factor) to the place but... it was a drone.

On the way, we stopped by a better, more interesting place worth spending our RM3 on.

A monument of Bali. It's just this HUGE, rustic, cool-looking building planted in between two football fields.

Hehe.

We went in and got drawn to the spiral staircase leading up, up, up!

But wait--

One of us had to be left behind, lol.

Before I begin, I just want to say... how grateful I am to be here right now and not stranded in the middle of a jungle with barely a hint of any survival equipment, 3 other lost trekkers, a cheap brand of insect repellent, 1 bottle of water and in the midst of ants, leeches, giant mosquitoes, evil thorny plants, and wild boars 0_o

It wouldn't be very pleasant being lost and having to spend a night where we were....

Good thing we found our way! Gosh, we were SO lost.

Joh, Julie, Kenzie & Me were on our way to visit the Sungai Chilling waterfall in Kuala Kubu Baru and our supposedly easy peasy 1 hour and the half walk turned into a monstrous 7 hour hike in thorny bushes and disgusting creepy crawlies.

I swear I can still feel the insects crawling on me still and my arms and legs are covered in gashes and bites :(

But you know what, more on that later! I still have other things to update!

For dinner, we decided to spoil ourselves with a fancy dinner at an Italian Restaurant, Limoncello!

Home made baked Italian bread served with olive oil and sweet balsamic vinegar! Yumm.

Beef Tataki. All the while, I thought I was eating Tuna Tataki! That's how fresh and tender the Beef Tataki was, haha!

I think that's either a prawn or squid salad... but I'm pretty sure that's Josh. Haha.

Some seafood dish I can't be sure of. But that's Sarah & Josh!

The following day, and also our last day breathing the fresh Cancun air...

Sigh! I miss Cancun :(

I adore FROOT LOOPS! Just about the most addictive snack I ever had. I wonder if they have them in Malaysia.... gonna go hunt for some.

That's probably the coolest thing I could get out of visiting this place.

Upon reaching Cancun, us ladies did some shopping for our New Years dinner celeb while the boys did... their boy thang.

We manage to flip to the Mexican channel countdown (and bumping into some weird-ass pornographic channel on the way.. but let's not go there) just in time!

After the countdown and after stuffing 12 grapes (1 for each month of the new year) for good luck, we headed out to party it up in the City of Cancun!

Christmas Dinner @ Jay's (25th December 2008)

While Erik's Christmas dinner has more pictures of people than food, during Jay's dinner, it's really more food than people.

The only picture with a human in it.

When you have a family of cooks, it can get pretty crazy in the kitchen.

In two days, I actually baked 3 chiffon cakes!

I hate to blame Jason but.... I am going to anyway.

If you have a turkey, ham and beef to roast as well as a cake and meringue to bake and only 2 ovens in the house, it's easy to screw up SOMEthing.

Too bad it had to be my cake.

Lesson #1 learned: Do not bake cake with roasting beef.
Lesson #2 learned: Do not bake cake with roasting beef and leaving it to Jay to watch over it.

A good lesson learned though that it was very possible to bake a cake with a beef roasting. Miraculously, the cake doesn't take up any flavour of the beef.

Am back from Mexico!!

Thought I could've done some decent blogging there but acquiring internet connection was either close to impossible to ridiculously expensive so I had to wait until I got home.

Anyway, I have loads to blog (some stuff from before Mexico... and even more from Mexico) but I'd need to get a hold of some pictures and do some serious editing... not to mention my school year is about to begin!!

Dodgeball is a super fun sport for sure. Everyone's a good sport (most of the time.. we get some bad apples here and there) and the game just has a great atmosphere in itself.

Okay, I'd have to say that this post would probably be a mix of the most random things I've been doing for the past few days.

Well, I normally do pretty darn random things in general but when you have a Korean import who-claims-he's-not-a-camwhore-but-really-is-a-big-one with you, your randomization would pretty much be documented.

It isn't exactly the most thrifty thing he could buy but when you step into the casino for 5 minutes and win a ridiculous amount of money AND smartly leave right after (and not stay like some greedy goofballs who end up leaving with zero or negative winnings), I guess you are entitled to spend ridiculously too.

People in North America get pretty excited about decorating their house during the festive season.

During Halloween, I saw some pretty crazy stuff going on.

Moving figures, flying ghouls, massive amount of pumpkins, witches, spiders and all that crazy scary stuff.

As Christmas draws closer, people swap their witches and ghosts for reindeers and christmas lights.

And it's quite a treat to witness these spectacular decor!

The one who I personally think deserve the award for going completely all-out in christmas decor isssss:

Santa's Home. It's sooo pretty... you can't see it but the lights are all twinkling and figures were moving! It's like a mini christmas carnival right there.

Just the other day, on the 13th, it snowed again!

Right after work, Erik came by and we started playing around in the snow outside Hapa.

It was really fun!

I know Canadians are probably sick of the snow and think about safety issues regarding driving and the annoying coat of ice that covers the car and possibly spoils many things, I simply bask in the glory on the falling flakes ;)

As you can see, I wasn't wearing the most suitable shoes. Well, I didn't very well know that it was going to snow when I headed out for work!

It SNOWED today!!!!

My FIRST TIME experiencing snow in the city :)
(I know I went to Melbourne to ski but that just seems different)

The blanket of white was verrry pretty and thankfully, my exams are OVER which means they won't be further postponed since my mountain located university closes when there's a snow in.

Pity the poor things who thought they had their last exams today...

I'm terribly jakun right now but what the heck! And to think, there might be a white Christmas!! My first Christmas here and that possibility :)))

One meddlesome thing though... needed to scrape the ice off.

I know I promise Ju that I'd take a video when it was snowing but by the time I woke up (not too early), it kinda stopped snowing.

Anyway...

Thank goodness the airports reopened yesterday (or.. two days ago... since we're a day slower here) and my sister is on her way to home.

First of all, I only claimed to "stop the madness in Thailand" because if any place in the world has a huge movement/strike and is causing a nation-wide crisis wouldn't it be... I don't know-

Moving on to what I originally wanted to blog about...

I have officially been in Vancouver for what... 7 months and a week?

Feels almost like an awfully long holiday from home and I'm desperately missing:
(in no particular order)

#1 Paps & Mummy. Miss playing my Saturday rounds of golf with Paps and miss my Mom's constant looking out for me and making sure I have everything I need... especially food.

#2 Muh sista's. As crazy as they are (cough, Lena, cough) sometimes, they're pretty fun to hang out with when they're in the mood.... shucks, I'm kidding ;) (sort of) My sister's are awesome. I miss doing random things with them.

#3 My girls! I'm longing for the day when the four of us could just sit down together, eat like the pigs we are and just talk. 7 years together (6 official years of the four of us) and we have yet to grow out of topics to talk about. And I'm dying to party with them too :( NOT TO MENTION, SHOPPINGGG!

#4 I miss Tini! Sniff. Her cooking... sigh. I make it a point to learn everything she knows when I get home so I can indulge (or somewhat) when I leave home.

#5 Hero. Looking back at the cute little ManU jersey he had on just made me go all emotional. I miss rubbing his belly and watching his left leg wiggle when I do that.

#6 The rest of the gang. I miss just going out to yumchar, have dinners, clubbing, ginrummy at my place, tennis, swimming, watching movies, poker sessions (which I don't exactly participate anyway..), drinking sessions (which I don't participate at all), doing out-there activities etc etc with all my buddies back home....

#7 Our proud Malaysian cuisine... ooooh, yummy yummy laksaaa... bak kut teh.... drool... chicken rice... tom yum (okay, this is Thai but who cares..)... nasi lemak... roti canai (they actually have that here.. but the curry cannot be compared).... ipoh hor fun.... banana leaf rice.... you lucky lucky ones back home right now. I just gave you an awesome list of what you can eat today... and for the rest of the week! Which you are probably gonna eat anyway. SO JEALOUS! And stop eating MCDONALDS!

#8 The weather. Never fully appreciate the warm weather... UNTIL NOW WHEN IT'S FREEZING. Well, it's not totally freezing YET. Some days when the sun peeks out, those days are beauuutiful (like today!)... others, it's just all wet and rainy and gloomy and coldddd :(

#9 The fact that everything is cheap.... -er in Malaysia compared to here. I feel like I'm burning a hole in my wallet everytime I spend. I have to constantly remind myself, "Don't convert... don't convert... don't convert..."

#10 My bed. That's right. I'm a brat. I miss my queen size bed :( I need plenty room to roll around, okayyy and it's hard to do that with a single bed. I'm getting used to it, no doubt about that... but there were some mishaps occasions nonetheless. I shouldn't complain because I love my room here! It's spacious and clean and very nice in the summer with my big, big windows.

Hmmm... so actually, I didn't exactly mean to blog about this.

Being my long-winded self, I just drifted from the original topic and I even had to change the title of this post to match what I ended up talking about.

But I'm running out of time (I really shouldn't even be blogging at all... but I just had to release my homesick emoness to everyone.... and hopefully those back home will appreciate how good you have it there and those who are in my position will know they aren't alone) so I'll blog more, more after my Finals! ...or when I decide to have "another break".

Karaoke @ Party World & Movie Reviews

It's been a while since my last karaoke session (only had two.. including this one) here in Vancouver.

The cool thing about karaoke-ing here is that there are Korean and Jap songs!

I pride myself in memorizing lyrics in which I have no clue what the heck it means.

That goes for the one Cantonese, one Mandarin (hopefully 2 in the near future), one Korean, and two (yes, TWO!) Japanese songs in which I have ingrained into my brain!

I only get to sing the Chinese and Mandarin song in back in Malaysia but here, I can sing the Jap and Korean too! Fun!

Get to show off my power skills in memorizing and pretty decent pronunciation skills (gotta give this girl some credit for not actually knowing the language, right?). Hehe.

Movie Review

Zack & Miri Make a Porno

I highly doubt this is aired in Malaysia but I'm pretty sure you guys can get it off the rack somewhere! I got mixed reviews from this movie... some people said it was really funny and some said it was bad... and some said it was so-so. And it was a good distribution of good and bad reviews too. I guess if you like the Seth Rogen type movies, you might enjoy this one. As it is, I was NOT a fan of "Knocked Up" so this movie just didn't cut it for me. I thought it had SOME decently funny lines but in general, I thought it was boring and a little overboard on the whole pornography stuff. The title is like it is, let's just say. If you're in to that kinda thing, stash it. If not, trash it.

I'm regretting I didn't actually read the book first before watching the movie. Because seriously, this movie.... is just a bad version of the book. A very, very bad version. I'm pretty sure the novel is pretty darn good since it had awesome reviews but for some reason, maybe due to a lot of cut and paste and DEFINITELY due to VERY BAD ACTING, it was dreadful.
If not for the good-looking cast, I'd walk.
Seriously. The cast NEEDS acting lessons. Pronto.

NKOTB CONCERT!

Honestly, I never knew very much at all about New Kids on the Block.

All I vaguely remember was that my Sister, Lena, was crazy about them back when I was... what, 5?

But a Boy Band concert can never really go wrong.

As gay as it may be for most of you, pop concerts are always entertaining and fairly amusing.

Although NKOTB ain't exactly the newest kids on the block (they are really 30-ish-year-old men on some block), they put on quite a good show!

Plus, when you have opening performances by Lady Gaga and Natasha Bedingfield, it can't be all that bad, can it?

NKOTB Concert @ GM Place (22nd November, 2008)

I actually really enjoyed her performance. I'd definitely hit her concert if she had one comin'!

I took vids for Natasha but I'm far too lazy to post it because really, it was nothing too crazy. It was just her, and a band... and... 2 back-up vocalists.

She didn't even really dress up or anything.

Undoubtedly, her live performance was really good, just.. well, nothing quite special.

Honestly, I seriously only just figured out the Joey from NKOTB was really THE Joey McIntyre when he started singing that song. It all makes sense now!

And I also just found out that Mark Wahlberg's brother is in NKOTB too; Donald Wahlberg. Not to mention Donnie starred in SAW!

Learned so many new things that day.

I'd have to say that Caprice is certainly one of the better clubs in Vancouver.

The crowd's pretty fun and the music's good.

And that's a lot to say seeing as how clubbing in Vancouver isn't exactly the highlight of the city.

Role Model

Hoho. I personally thought this movie really tickled my funny bone tremendously! I actually enjoyed it a lot and thought the jokes were fairly entertaining. I wouldn't go all out to say it was the funniest movie ever made but it was an enjoyable watch. A few glitches of cliches here and there but overall, I liked it! Not to mention, I absolutely adore Paul Rudd!

First, I met up with Chin Hing a couple of weeks back from in the good 'ol Jati days in Highschool and just last weekend, Edwina drops by from Okanagan!

I'm not sure if the amount of food I'm eating is more scary than my expression.

Mmm, Mongolian grill always tend to hit the spot. It's one of closest cuisine that can possibly replace my constant crave for Malaysian food.

Fine Dining @ Cioppino's, Yaletown (27th of October, 2008)

We both cleaned up out act a little for this just to meet the higher class of dining that Cioppino's offers.

Evidently, Cioppino's has amazing reviews on its Italian/Mediterranean cuisine and based on our experienced, the place definitely lived up to its standard.

I miss posing in the nice washroom lighting with my girlfriends... I'm flying solo for now :( Oh, that's probably why Erik was waiting so long for me when I headed out to the washroom... HEHE.

Antipasti:
(Appetizers)

I think we cleaned up pretty nicely! And those are our appetizers: tuna carpaccio on the center plate and scallop & barley risotto on our individual plates. I especially loved the scallops (literally the sweetest, yummiest scallops I've eaten ever) and the barley risotto was pretty awesome.

Entrate:
(Entrees)

The veal; which was incredibly juicy and tender. Note: Erik sure likes to pose like a complete bimbo cheerleader...

The seafood pasta in creamy tomato sauce. I forgot the name of the pasta but it was stuffed with goodness and the lobster and crab was fabulous.

Dolci:
(Sweets a.k.a Dessert)

On the left is the chocolate mousse with a raspberry (or was it cranberry? or neither?) center filling and on the right is the chocolate cake topped with what tasted like sweetened, condensed milk & vanilla icecream.

The dolci's were superb! It was the perfect ending touch to a perfect dinner.

I obviously look extremely excited!

Erik (and his triple chin... some things even Photoshop can't save, me boy... hehehehehehe, I'm so mean) and Me; frightened of what Fright Night has to offer.

This is only mildly disturbing... there's a skeleton head popping out from the TV but "The Ring" already enlightened us with that ridiculously terrifying idea.

Here's one way to kill yourself. Blow your brains out. Shouldn't be too painful.

I swear I didn't notice that psychotic smile on his face until I actually edited this picture.

Outside one of the two haunted houses we visited.

The haunted houses were pretty fun!

Erik was a total scaredy-cat.

Making me his shield was quite entertaining.

Until he crushed me after being "quite surprised" by a zombie/ghost/vampire (something or other) that swung in out of nowhere.

Edward Scissor Hands... turned evil. Decided to cut up people instead of bushes.

Some weird creature with a goat head chopping out some chick's guts. Yummy.

Some old dude that got hanged to death.

Doing the ET thing with an alien in a skeleton suit.. which was pointing its middle finger out. Quite intriguing.

Our famished butts drew us to a nearby (we really actually had to walk a zillion miles just to find that darn) hotdog stand.

BUT IT WAS ALLLL WORTH IT!!

Mmmmm!

Sooooo goood! The perfect grub in an amusement park.

Erik also means pig in French. Or Italian or something... we'll find a language where Erik means pig.

Then, it started drizzling...

And it made me become more in touch with my inner Muslim.

And soon, we head to the Ferris Wheeeel!!!

Pardon my enthusiasm with the Ferris Wheel.

I go completely bonkers with it. If I go to an amusement park with a Ferris Wheel (really, I would go there only BECAUSE of the existent Ferris Wheel), I get very, very happy.

It would just make my day to be on top of the world :)

Erik even spent 5 whole dollars and won me a little gift!

Meet Tuffy! He's slightly deformed... with extra long legs and awkward asymmetrical ears, not to mention he is red and yellow, hardly a common colour for a dog... but nobody's really won anything for me before so Tuffy's really special :)

And that was Fright Night for me!

It certainly was a night of fright... and quite a bit of fun too!

A New Self-Discovery

Wow, I think this is the longest period of time I did not blog!

A WHOLE WEEK!

Things have pretty much been routine hence the lack of topics to blog about.

However, Halloween is around the corner and there would be some fun eventful nights on its way for sure!!

I'm just sad I got 3 invites to Halloween parties in which I can't attend unless I sprouted out wings and flew back to Malaysia :(

Booo.

Anyway, I've discovered something about myself just recently.

I never had any allergy problems and I could consume virtually anything.

Also, I would always empathize those who were allergic to things like:
1. Eggs
2. Chicken (how can one live without eating chicken??)
3. Meat in general

And goodness no, I did not just discovered a new allergic reaction to any sort of meat (I would just cry if I had to stop eating meat... don't mind my carnivorous manner)..

But did I find out I am... sadly...

Lactose intolerant.

It's weird because I used to be able to drink gallons of milk when I was younger but I guess now that I'm aging (yucks, I hate that word), my body just won't produce 'em enzymes to digest lactose.

I never realized this because after my growing stage was over, I never really touched milk (Malaysian milk isn't the most appetizing beverage) and since I came here, I drink milk almost like drinking water.

Until the bad tummy aches came :(

Thankfully, Emily found lactose-free milk (it's so cool how they make that now!) so problem solved!

And since 70% of Asians are lactose intolerant (which means 70% of you... that includes Erik since he thinks he's Asian anyway), you can look out for lactose-free milk to enjoy your daily:
1. Vitamin A (immune function)
2. Vitamin B12 & Riboflavin & Potassium & Magnesium (cardiovascular health)
3. Vitamin D (bone health)
4. Thiamin (cognitive function, especially memory)
5. Selenium (cancer preventive trace mineral)
and of course...

Protein and calcium!

Ju, drink more milk.

Did I say more?

I mean, DRINK MILK. PERIOD.

That girl drinks zero milk and hates fruits.

Need to figure out a way to sneak in those nutrition into her daily intake!

My First Fall & Volunteer @ Willingdon's Nursery

As cold as it is, the beautiful Fall leaves totally make up for it.

Anyway, I've probably mentioned that I'm volunteering at Willingdon's Church's Nursery and here are the reasons why I look forward to Sunday mornings:

Watching over teensy 2 year-olds and below just makes my motherly instinct rage!

But no, I am not quite dying to get a child just yet.

Still, they are such darlings (we have some naughty ones here and there and some major criers but generally, they're really sweet) and you just want to hold, hug & kiss 'em all over!

Oopsie, a lil' boo boo there.

Vera! She's my favourite. She's so independent; one of the few who don't cry when their mummy leaves them for service. And she's constantly smiling!

And this is Caleb! Only 3-months old. That week, I officially grew larger biceps. I had to carry him for an hour and the half straight because he would start sobbing if I put him down! He may be 3-months old but he sure ain't 3 pounds.

He's sooOOooOoo cuuute!

Food for Thought... Not Quite Delicious Food Though. Not At All Actually.

Honestly, you men can be so disgusting sometimes (some more than others.. much, much more).

I'm not saying us girls aren't gross too but we're far less gross than you boys, for sure!

And this very fact is clearly depicted in the PUBLIC WASHROOMS.

You can't deny that the Men's are always stinkier and dirtier than the Ladies'.

Working at Hapa, cleaning the washrooms isn't a difficult task (much less for the Ladies' than the Men's obviously) because the washrooms are always kept nice & clean and normally (normally... but not all people are quite normal which can be really pissing off) people who step into a clean washroom can't exactly make it look like a tornado hit. Unless drunk people and puke are involved, but let's not go there.

So us servers do washrooms checks now and again during our shifts to make sure the washrooms and nice & sparkly. Obviously, drunk guys are very, very bad with their aim so....... but, that gets mopped up every time before opening... no worries there.

However, what really disturbed me the other day while I was cleaning up the Men's was as I was shoo-shoo-ing (that's the sound the anti-bacterial spray makes, thus the slang) the....... Men's peeing thingy hanging off the wall (for some reason, I can't recall what the heck that stupid thing is called... the one that you men pee into hanging off the wall... it's like on the tip of my tongue but it's totally not coming to me! Sorry, total blonde moment right now, feel free to enlighten me in my comment box), I discovered some... excrements on the wall.

Another annoying thing I had to come across today from this dude sitting two seats away from me during Econ lecture today was his-

INTOLERABLE LEG SHAKING!!!

I detest people who shake their legs especially in cinemas, in the bus and much, much less in lectures.

I was having a major headache after 2 hours of inconsistent chair vibration in lecture.

As though people around you enjoy your drilling as much as you do. I seriously felt like smacking his head.

I actually wish I did... well, atleast told him to stop doing it but. Well, I'm not really like that, I just kind of put up with it and suffer later. And learn a new lesson, which today's one was: Don't ever freaking sit in the same damn row as that annoying leg-driller.

So guys, as it is, we girls have to eventually put up with some of your gross traits in the future... but do make our lives somewhat easier and make us feel less disgusted by starting with cleaning out your nostrils during your private shower time and by kicking out the bad habit of leg shaking.

I just felt like rambling today, so there you go.

I've got party pictures to load up but I have Financial Accounting midterm to write tomorrow and need to get back to studying!

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People

Okay, that's it. I am NOT ever watching any movies with Kirsten Dunst ANYMORE! I could hardly believe I actually sat through an hour and the half watching bad humour, Kirsten, and Megan Fox acting like a complete bimbz. I expected waaay more from the cast but I was extremely disappointed. Don't waste your time.

Eagle Eye

I suppose this movie could somehow possibly be good if you watch it immediately after watching "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People"... but I didn't. So no, it was not good. Okay, the Transformers stars do have a lot of live up to but... well, at least Shia did a better job than Megan for sure. It's not like the movie was bad, it was just so promising and then they had to end with a very creative conclusion that they stole from a zillion other movies. Seriously, a 5 year-old could predict the ending... and maybe come up with a better one, who knows. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend. Unless you are very, very, very, very.... very, very.... very, very, very bored.

For some odd reason, Hapa keeps drawing in people who work there.

Although it's quite a pain in the butt to be carrying a zillion documents around... driver's license, driver's license translation form, study permit, photocopy of my passport, and my BCID... but at least I don't need to be afraid of cops stopping me now!

Movie Review

My Best Friend's Girl

I always adored Kate Hudson and she was great in the movie. The plot wasn't exactly the most brilliant thing that they came up with but the jokes were sufficiently entertaining. But movies like these, really unnecessary to watch in the cinema unless you're really, really, really bored. Well, there's nothing much to say about this movie except it's just another one of those feel-good chick flicks on the more mediocre level.

Okay, so I'm not the biggest Simple Plan fan, although I do recall the days when the girls and I were crazy over punk bands back when it was big (we hailed Simple Plan and Good Charlotte then) so getting free tickets to their concert was pretty dang sweet!

BUT GETTING TO MEET THE PERSONALLY WAS EVEN SWEETER ;)

Oops, I'm two weeks late from updating, haha.

I'll try to catch up!

Anyway, up until today, I am suffering from my injuries that I received on this fateful day.

It started off with an innocent game of rockband...

Well, I guess it ain't so innocent when topless men are playing it.... that's Matt, Erik & Ian there.

After the half-naked game of rockband, we journeyed to English Bay for some rollerblading.

As usual, Miss Accident-Prone here insisted on having an early casualty...

I felt flat, almost literally, on my face and scratched and bruised up my right hand (severely), right elbow and both my knees. It was soooo, soooo bad. And it was pretty darn painful too.

I must add, Canada has got to have the most helpful and incredibly nice Samaritans ever!

The first one passed by and passed me 2 band aids she happened to be carrying with her and this other guy saw me topple like a retard from his apartment and came down to give me a bag of ice and a cloth!

Malaysians would probably just stare, possibly point fingers & either whisper or laugh loudly.

Nice closer upper for you guys. The band aids are covering the best parts.

Nevertheless, the show must go on!

But with multiple aids in order for less further damage to my body. I thought I was being cool when I said I didn't need knee guards and elbow guards but... if you're a horrid klutz, those are essential items.

Managed to clean it up a little. Actually I think it looks worse now then in the pic.

The bruises turned practically black for the longest time and the scars are still visible...

My knees are damaged goods. As are my elbows and my right hand... I can scare people with my right hand actually. It looks preeeety distorted.

Yum yum.

Sigh.

I seriously need to be more careful.

Had a horrid fall, burnt my hair and to make matters a little worse...

I kicked my left foot by accident on the corner of my bedside table (and it wasn't exactly the most blunt corner) and it's not all scabby.

JEEZ!!

Thank goodness for the band aids on my bedside table.

They're my lifesavers.

Locks on Fire! & Rockband

You won't believe it... and neither did I for a while.

I may... have...

BURNT. MY. HAIR.

Sounds ghastly, I know, and it kinda smelled pretty darn ghastly too actually.

It certainly taught me a big fat lesson to be extremely wary of those candles on the tables when I'm cleaning up.

For jeebers sake, I literally lit the left side of my hair on fire!!!

Thank goodness I didn't have flammable hairspray on or I'm basically SCREWED.

You'd be seeing some wig action going on if so.

TOUCH WOOD!!

I was so devastated yet extremely grateful that half my hair (okay, fine, tad exaggeration... about quarter or less) was GONE.

Basically, it was as if I had a trim... but only on the left side.

Luckily it wasn't so noticeable (unlike the smell of burnt hair) or I'd be bawling out with tears!!

Ding Dong #3: The one with bruises all over and is prone to all sorts of accidents. If you think the burning of my hair is bad... wait until I post what other incident happened prior to that incident.

Sore Feet

Been meaning to update stuff but been soooo busy with school and work!

Work training is a murrrderrrrr!!!

Going to school and then working for 9 hours until midnight is not exactly my idea of fun.

Still the people I work with at Hapa make it work the while :)

As tiring as work is, I'm actually enjoying myself and learning not only how a restaurant/bar works (not to mention embracing the dirty work waitresses/bartenders have to go through first hand) but also picking up some Japanese!

Soon enough, I won't have to rely on Paps for rent and living expenses!

I'm a big girl now :)

Yikes, it's 2am and I have class and another 9 hours of craze to go through tomorrow so I better be off!
